Algrace Jean Algabre – Administrative Assistant

algrace-algabre-vaHi, I am Algrace Jean Algabre; you can call me Grace or Jean. I am a wife and a mother to a 1-year-old beautiful daughter. I graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management at Central Mindanao University in 2019 and received a Latin honour, which is Cum Laude. But before I graduate, I am an independent student who resells some products from an e-commerce platform and posts them on my social media account to sustain my educational fees and allowances. After graduation, I worked as a cashier at a fast-food chain; my goal was to experience being a cashier and then be promoted or endorsed to a managerial position after 6 months. But the pandemic happened, and I am having a hard time commuting from work to home during a closing shift, which is around 11:00 PM–12 midnight.

After that, I worked as an office-based ESL teacher, but I switched to working from home with just a prepaid Wi-Fi with me. Sadly, it didn’t work well because of an intermittent signal, and I cannot apply for a fibre connection since the slot is full in my area. So, I went home to Davao City, where my parents live, and then applied for a customer service representative position at Awesome OS, which is Awesome CX now. I handled a voice account under TechStyle Fashion Group. I enjoyed taking calls and helping customers with their concerns. But after a year, I went back to Valencia, Bukidnon, and settled down with my long-time partner.

algrace-algabre-vaWe build our dream together. We started selling thrift clothes, and it worked out. But I was pregnant and could not manage to sell anymore since I felt tired quickly and sleepy most of the time. So, my partner just looked for another job and was hired as an admin officer at DILG. After a month of giving birth to my daughter, I started looking for a job online since I have now discovered what I want in life, and that is to work from home so I can take care of my daughter. I started as an academic virtual assistant, assisting working students and professionals with their academic requirements like assignments, thesis writing, research papers, feasibility studies, and financial statements. From there, I developed my skills in data entry, basic accounting, email management, basic graphic design, and client communication.

Right now, I aim to achieve my greatest dream, which is to be a virtual assistant for foreign clients. I want to learn more skills and help them succeed in their business by assisting them in administrative tasks so they can focus on their bigger goals.
