Archana Mohindru – Computer Engineer

Hello, I am Archana Mohindru. My friends and family call me by my nickname Venu. 🙂

I am from a very small city called Pathankot which is in the northern part of India. It is a connecting border of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir. Although Pathankot is only a small city, the beautiful weather conditions make it an amazing place to live. I spent around 16 years of my life there, completed my schooling and then moved to Chandigarh for tertiary education.

My family means the world to me. My parents are both now retired from government departments, and we are a family of 3 sisters and 1 brother. My sisters are married and have busy homelives full of responsibilities. My brother is the youngest in our family, and is doing his best to overcome the early ups and downs that exist in his start-up business. His efforts and determination are inspiring.

I am considered ‘the favourite’ among everyone in my family. I am best friends to my sisters, a loving and caring daughter, and on top of that I am a responsible individual who loves to take care of everybody.

Even though I am blessed to have a wonderful familly I have seen more than my fair share of ups and downs in my life. Nothing came my way easily and I had to struggle, work hard and be determined to rise above my circumstances. I believe the challenges I’ve experienced, have made me a much stronger person.

One turning point for me occurred after I graduated from High School and commenced my studies at Engineering College. On my very first day, a gang of boys did their best to harass, tease and belittle me. I decided then and there that I would find another college – a place where students were more concerned about their studies rather than making a fellow student feel humiliated. That’s when I took internal transfer to another Engineering College that was based at Chandigarh. I completed my 4 years of study, gained my degree with distinction, and made a lot of good and genuine friends who have actually become my life-long friends.

I was very good at cultural activities and I used to participate a lot in dance and singing competitions. I also wanted to be an actor so I used to take part in some auditions as well. I still remember the very first audition I gave. It was my final year of college and I had discovered that a famous channel was looking for a lead face for their daily soap, and they were taking auditions. I skipped college that day and went in for an audition. Although I was not selected, it was a once-in-lifetime experience for me!

Life has not always been very kind to me, but I am religious and my faith gives me a lot of power and helps me to move through what may come my way. My husband passed away 3 years ago and I was in a state of depression for a long time. My family supported me and my mother became the pillar on which I actually stood again. Now I am all set and look forward to the opportunities to start my life again on both a personal and professional front. I am ready to face all the challenges to make myself an even stronger and better person than before.

Professionally, I am a Computer Engineer who started her career with a small startup company as a recruitment executive and developer. The company faced financial losses and soon shut down. However I was fortunate enough to be selected by a large organisation where I worked for almost 5 years. I learned a lot about an organisation’s culture and performing in a team environment.

My career has given me the opportunity to work on different projects and manage them independently – be it Recruitment, Project Management, Operations, Business Analysis, Customer Service, and much more.

I hope this gives you an insight into who I am as a person as well as a professional worker; along with helping to create the trust that I will be a good addition to your team.
