Arvin Sudiacal – Accountant/Bookkeeper

“Though I am not deserving, yet I have been qualified.”

I grew up in a family that is quite radical and liberal, but also quite strict. A family that has standards. Although I felt the pressure that they’re putting in me, regardless… I still felt their love and concern for me.

Growing up, I became an active leader in different platforms and opportunities. I also became a top-notcher in my studies, joined different organizations that are related to being a controller and administrator, and stuff like that.

Everyone was rooting up for me, put their faith in me, and believed in me because of my capabilities and what I have achieved so far.

But then I slipped in life and failed them.

My friends and family got disappointed with me because of the mistake that I did – a mistake that made everyone sad. I sacrificed my career, the grace, the opportunities that were given to me. I let them down.

I was depressed at that time. Everyone was disappointed with me, but I was given the chance to redeem myself. I had the chance to correct my mistake, but it was difficult for me to prove that I am still worthy. Even though I have changed, the distrust and distaste of others were still there.

So, I told myself, “I need to prove myself once again.”

Everything changed when I met my partner, the one who believed in me and put her faith in me that I can do great things. She brought me back to the kind of person I was before. The Lord used her to restore what I have lost.

In 2020, many of my friends and family stereotyped me, didn’t believe me that I would be able to land any accounting/bookkeeping work unless I get my degree first. They discouraged me and tried to stop me from finding one.

But that didn’t stop me.

I wanted to show them, that even though I still have a few semesters to take to get my degree, I could still get a job.

And so, I did. I was able to prove myself and got my first job as a bookkeeper in an educational AU firm, TheBrightTutors. And from then on, I received several opportunities to work for various clients UK, New Zealand, and AU.

Because of my partner who believed in me, I am now XERO ADVISOR CERTIFIED and currently taking my chances in upscaling my accounting career virtually, to grow with the company, and be with them in realizing their business goals and mission.
