Blenda Remeticado – General Mathematics and Statistics and Probability Teacher
Hi, I am Blenda Remeticado, married for almost four years with three lovely dogs. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education majoring in Mathematics from St. Theresa’s College – Cebu and have units in a Master’s degree in Education from Cebu Normal University.
My education career began in classroom teaching wherein I learned to collaborate with the co-teachers, parents, and students. A year after teaching, I was given the administrative responsibility of being the Grade Level Coordinator. As a fresh graduate at that time, it seemed quite intimidating to come in as the team leader of experts in this particular field. However, I took up the challenge. Working with these experts, wholeheartedly welcoming constructive feedback and establishing clear communication, I see growth very far from who I was. For six years, I led the team, being responsible for scheduling, making financial reports, organising records, coordinating events, and facilitating communication, balancing both teaching and administrative roles with efficiency. This experience has made me confident, proactive, organised, and detail-oriented.
When I married, I decided to transfer to a school nearer to our new home. I got hired as a teacher and was offered to also lead as a Student Activity Program Coordinator. The new role involved far more scope than my previous administrative role. It involved collaboration with the school’s internal stakeholders and external partners to manage multiple events and programs. Even though I had limited prior experience and was not grounded yet with the new school’s culture, I was always ready to take the risk and still managed to learn and adapt. I honed my organisational skills, time management, and my ability to multi-task. I’m always commended on being graceful under pressure. Additionally, I become gradually adept with the help of technology to streamline processes and boost productivity.
I always value integrity, dedication, growth, and effective communication. So, for several years, I devoted my whole self to my job and often over time, which happened to be at the cost of my family. Now, I see working remotely would be able to apply my discipline in work but also acquire some time for my family. The reduction of six hours of daily commuting will enable me to attend to work as well as home, giving quality service without any compromise toward my personal life. As I always take the risk, I aim to grow more, together with my family.
