Carmela Semblante – General Virtual Assistant
Hey there, I am Carmela Semblante, but you can call me Carmela. I graduated with a degree in Psychology in AMA University. Four years ago, I finished my college degree and was about to apply into a corporate setting, but then suddenly, the pandemic happened. I would have never imagined that working from home would be my main source of income, as the years went by, while the world was on lockdown. Nevertheless, it gave me the freedom and happiness that I longed for.
I started out working as a social media marketer for a brand, dealing with their social media channel’s contents and graphic design. Then along came an opportunity for me to work as a Facebook Ads Specialist. It was not an easy journey because I was inexperienced in this skill at first.
Unexpectedly, it didn’t take long for me to be able to adapt to the new challenge. I built my experience through various courses and workshops as well as learning other skills that will help the client more in the long run. Aside from the skills, I also worked on improving my soft skills like negotiating and such. I can also work well alone or with a team. Being competent in my work, goal-oriented, resourceful, and equipped with knowledge makes me a striking Virtual Assistant.
All in all, understanding the mission, vision and culture of the company is important. And a reliable, and consistent person are important factors in achieving success. Without having these traits, one’s journey as a Virtual Assistant will cease to exist in the long run.
Working at home is not like working in an office I know. But the things I have experienced so far will help me achieve my future goals, especially when I’ll have my own family in the years to come. The values I would get out of it will help future generations who need guidance.
Years from now, I aim to help not just me, but also other people grow further in their career, and I plan to learn more skills and knowledge along the way to better myself and apply them in all aspects of my life, not just in my career.
Good things always take time and slow but steady steps wins the race. This quote is one of my daily motivations whenever I am under a slump. It really helps me to take it slowly and not pressure myself. I hope it helps you too.
