Chemmerlyn Hastrtieter – General Virtual Assistant
I am Chemmerlyn Hastrtieter, 26 years old and this is my story.
I have been working as early as 16 years old to support my studies and I have been passionate about selling too (I knew I had an entrepreneurial heart ever since). I worked at fast food chains, boutique, spa and BPO companies and sold a lot of stuff in my life – legal stuff! Lol. Kidding aside, I was doing well working at a BPO company but everything changed when I had my daughter. I knew the moment I had her that I had to be with her, I had to stay at home.
I was blessed enough to have friends that are already in the industry to help me start with my career as a virtual assistant. I started with what I knew most, that is customer support. I got hired a week after applying non-stop to every company I saw online. As I write this story of mine I can’t help but remember my humble beginnings and how far I have come, truly humble beginnings come great things.
I have learned a lot from colleagues and clients. I deeply appreciate the people I have stumbled upon here in this industry, they all made me who I am today. A mother of a 3 years old, a woman with ambition, that is who I am.
Learning is a must in this industry, being stagnant and not able to cope up with the fast phased virtual world is a big risk. I tried to keep myself occupied by learning online either using Youtube or any free online courses available online. I achieved my position as an Operations Manager through going above and beyond for my client, I was originally hired as an Executive Assistant however my eagerness to learn more and do more for my client made my client notice what I am doing and was given more important tasks in the administrative side of his business and was part of the team that makes necessary decision for the betterment of the business system. I create invoices for them, sending it to the company clients, hiring people, doing small social media management, minimal graphic designs, communicating to our clients, email management, I was the POC of the company, scheduling, booking flights/ doing travel arrangements, calendar management, tracking paid/unpaid invoices, tracking due dates for our licenses/insurances and many more, tracking expenses through excel/spreadsheet and many more. It was a really delightful experience and I learned a lot. I had my ups and downs as a virtual associate, no job is an easy job. The struggle with working alone with a crying kid is always a battle in any work from home moms, but I know that I am doing it for my child. My baby might not understand my sacrifices now but I pray and I will work hard for her to not make the same sacrifices I did because I will prepare for her future. I am all in with my family.
Again, my name is Chemmerlyn “LYN” Hastrieter and I am looking forward to telling you all about my work experiences soon.
