Chennielyn Tatel-Penarroyo – Executive Virtual Assistant
Hi, I’m Chennielyn Tatel-Penarroyo, but you can call me “Dani.” I’m a proud boy mom of three amazing children! I graduated with a degree in Secondary Education from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, which equipped me with valuable teaching and communication skills that have been beneficial throughout my career. I began working from home in 2020 due to COVID-19, a transition that initially felt challenging but soon became a blessing. Working from home has allowed me to balance my professional responsibilities with my most cherished role as a mother. I’m grateful to have this opportunity, as it enables me to be more present with my children while still advancing my career.
My professional journey has taken me through various industries, such as Telecommunications, Mortgage Banking, Business Cards, and Private Equity. I’ve held roles in customer service, technical support, sales, and executive assistance. These experiences have helped me develop a strong skill set in communication, problem-solving, and multitasking. My background in customer service, especially, has taught me the value of empathy and understanding the needs of others—qualities I bring into every interaction.
In 2023, American Express moved to a hybrid setup, which required me to commute from Laguna to BGC, Taguig, three times a week. This was challenging for me, especially since my youngest son was still a baby at the time. Faced with the decision of prioritising my career or family, I ultimately chose my family, a choice I am confident was the right one for me. Working remotely again has allowed me to maintain my career without compromising my family’s needs.
After leaving American Express, I transitioned into executive assistance and quickly found that I had a natural affinity for it. This role taught me new skills, such as calendar management, email organisation, project coordination, and travel arrangements. I am thrilled to learn and grow in these areas and look forward to developing my expertise further. Each challenge I’ve encountered in this role has offered me new insights that I apply both in my work and personal life.
Working from home remains one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It allows me to support my clients and help them achieve their goals while also being there for my family. I am passionate about continuous learning and excited about the future opportunities this career path holds, all within the convenience of my home.
