Floji Mae Alidon – Registered Nurse

floji-mae-alidon-vaHi! I am Floji Mae Alidon from Cebu, Philippines. You can either call me Floji or Mae. I am a Registered Nurse by profession who graduated from CIT—University. I am a risk-taker individual who happens to be a Nurse by profession but somehow ventured into a different career path.

Looking back, I have never imagined myself working from home, as it was not a thing a few years back when I started working. Working for me means I must travel 2–3 hours from my place to work and another 2–3 hours going back home. I can only imagine the stress that I have been under of commuting/travelling just to live from paycheck to paycheck.

All my work experience was in a BPO setting before I graduated college. I have been a working student throughout my college years to sustain my schooling. It was never easy going to school or having clinicals during the day and working at night. Not to mention all the personal happenings I have dealt with just to go on with my life and never surrender. But as they say, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” And I honestly believed it because here I am, a proud one who overcame all those hardships before. I have been part of different BPO companies, which means I have also been exposed to different lines of business. I was a customer service representative for a telecommunications company in the USA and in Australia, a chat support for a UK-based food ordering company, a provider’s lane advocate of one of the biggest health floji-mae-alidon-vainsurances in the USA, and a Dispatch Assistant for a longstanding US-based Logistics company wherein I also experienced being their Human Resource personnel for a short time. I have also been a Company Nurse for a very well-known retail company here in the Philippines. I have been their Nurse and at the same time, I was part of the Human Resources Department.

But after all these years of working, nothing can be compared to working from home when I already had the chance to experience it. The comfort it gives me of not being stressed in commuting, or being soaked under the rain while travelling, or being afraid of what might happen to me along the way. Now I can say that I am privileged enough to be working from home and at the same time peacefully doing all my deliverables and tasks from the comforts of my home.
