Florence Monleon – Administrative Assistant, Digital Marketing

florence-monleon-vaMy name is Florence Monleon. I have a degree in Psychology that I acquired in 2018.

I am the second born in my family. I grew up in Dubai, U.A.E. When I was in 7th grade, my parents decided that we should all move back home because of the economic crisis U.A.E was facing at the time, and it would be more practical for my mum to give birth to my baby sister in the Philippines.

Ever since I was little, my dad always spoiled us with gifts and we were given anything we asked for from our parents. I graduated college the same year my dad decided to retire from working as an Overseas Filipino Worker and I immediately felt the need to look for a job. My first ever official job was as a Starbucks Barista because it was a goal I just needed to achieve. After a few months my cousins inspired me to go back to Dubai and work there.

I worked as a Human Resource Assistant at an engineering consultants firm. Since it was still a start-up, I also handled the phone calls the office received, clerical work, preparing documents and contracts for signing, receiving and sending out invoices to contractors and other third party companies who worked with us, drafting emails for client’s confirmation and approval.

florence-monleon-vaThe first few months of working in a foreign country after not living there for a decade made me homesick because I was so used to having my family around the house. I started touring around the city, going to different beaches and malls. I developed new hobbies like cooking and editing videos. I even got to the point of creating my own YouTube account! Exercising and jogging became leisure for me and I fell back in love with life.

When I moved back home to the Philippines I immediately looked for a job in the same industry. I took lessons and learned to create simple graphic designs in Canva to create posts for my client’s social media accounts, learned how to set up Infusionsoft by Keap, designing Clickfunnels websites or pages, Acuity scheduler, scheduling Zoom meetings. I began doing work for friends and family with small businesses like logos, social posts and answering customer queries.

I am still looking for my place in this industry but I trust that I’ll grow and become more knowledgeable because there is always room for improvement and skills to acquire. I am excited and looking forward to working for you!
