Godfrey S. Racoma – CSR and Technical Support

Godfrey Racoma VAHi there – I’m Godfrey Racoma, your reliable VA. 🙂

I grew up in a suburb in Southern Philippines. An adventurer by heart and I was the outdoor type who’d skip classes and run shirtless in the woods with my friends. We swam the rivers, climbed the trees, conquered the hills and dived from the cliffs into the sea! I had a nasty habit of going to bed covered in dirt LOL – but that was a part of those beloved childhood years.

When I got to college, things (and I!) became more civilised!

It’s funny, but it’s like the only way to survive in this world is by getting a college degree. My father subscribed to an educational plan when I was still little and paid up fully. However things came crashing down when the educational plan provider suddenly declared bankruptcy and I was forced to stop my college studies. I’m sure you can image – my father was heartbroken. 🙁

At a young age, I had worked as a cleaner at night and learned some trade skills in a vocational school by day. Eventually, I received a vocational diploma in medical transcription. When I was 18, I ran away from home – leaving behind my father who wasn’t very proud of me. I landed a job in the BPO industry, working as a Customer Service Representative for large telcos in the US. As I had medical studies, I worked as a medical transcriptionist for US physicians and Customer Service Rep for various healthcare providers in the US.

I became proficient with Zendesk, Oracle, Outlook, SAP, Word, Excel, Dbase, Access, Siebel and a dozen other applications.

Then I grew restless… so I managed to work in 2 companies at the same time. A local IT company during the day and as a CSR in a call center during the night. On my weekends, I served as a VA for various firms in Canada and US.

Though I did not finish my college studies, I became a proud breadwinner for the family and supported my younger brother and sisters until they got their college diplomas.

Through the years, I was the scapegoat for all the ills in the family – you could say, a black-sheep among my siblings. These days they have a force to be reckoned with! And I am better person than they thought me to be.

Thank you for reading my story.
