Ian Gabriel G. Gabasa – General Virtual Assistant, Graphic Design

ian-gabasa-vaHi, I’m Ian Gabriel G. Gabasa; you can call me Ian. I studied architecture in college; I mostly enjoyed creating 3D models and also rendering graphic designs, which eventually led me to video editing. I have since focused on becoming better at my craft, and this has led me to work from home as a virtual assistant. I have since been grateful for having the opportunity to continue with my passion while giving all of my time and focusing on exceptional service without the inconvenience of Manila traffic.

My interest in graphic design started when a professor from the US taught us the importance of good graphic design and how you can have the ability to move people depending on the flow of your work. Since then I have done a lot of self-studying and ended up editing a video for a friend who just started in Twitch. Since then I’ve never looked back, and I’ve always looked forward to pushing the limits of my skill. I learned everything from scratch; I looked at how others edited their videos and did my research if I got stuck during the process. I was also able to ask friends who were in the industry longer than me for more tips and techniques on how to streamline my workflow.

I now wanted to get out there and put my skills to the test in the real world, and I found an opportunity through freelancing. At first, I started with basic video editing and short and long-form content either for customer use or marketing. As a general virtual assistant, I took the initiative to learn other tasks like how to schedule the posting of videos that I edited through social media scheduling software. I also audited company finances through financial software and made sure to organise relevant data in an Excel sheet. And I’ve handled non-voice customer service through GoHighLevel CRM. I’ve always done work alone, but if needed I can also collaborate well with a team. All of these tasks I had to report back to my coworkers in Slack so they were kept in the loop with the tasks that I was doing.

ian-gabasa-vaOver time, I learned that being flexible is one of the best skills to have when being a virtual assistant. I strived to always give my best work output while consistently hitting goals. Being open to criticism and always asking the important questions will also help in this aspect. I was also able to practice being independent and exhausting options instead of always completely relying on a client; this is useful for helping the client keep his/her focus on growing the business/company.

I will always be grateful that I work at home. This has allowed me to provide consistently exceptional service while also having the time and energy to take care of myself and my loved ones.

I have gained enough knowledge and skills that I know can be of great help to any executive or business owner. But even then, I will still continue to strive for more so that I can be the best version of myself in both work and life.
