Jackylou Cagatan – Certified Public Accountant

jacklou-cagatan-vaI am Jacky, 34, a mother of 1. I came from a big family, with 7 siblings, I am the 2nd to the last. Everyone in the family sings and most of them cook (hehe I only sing and eat). Because we are many, two of my brothers didn’t make it to college, but both of them helped us financially to graduate. After I graduated, it was my turn to help our youngest to go to college and finish his course. Thank GOD, he is now just waiting for his board exam.

Growing up was a bit challenging but joyful. We owe it to our parents who taught us to be there for one another. Family get-togethers are always the best time for me, where there is karaoke, unlimited food, and endless talks with my sisters. Time flies when I am with them. My family is one of the reasons I worked hard. I wanted to give back to them, especially to my mother, I pray that she’s still alive and well when I become a millionaire :).

On the other hand, I am also building my own family, my little love is named Jacko. I want to provide what’s best for him, and for them. Being a mother and a wife is another milestone, another fulfillment. I thanked GOD always for giving me the best partner to raise a beautiful child with. My little love was born in September 2020, during the rise of the pandemic. I could say that COVID-19 was somehow a blessing to us because I was able to spend most of my time with my family.

It was March 2020, I was still pregnant back then when my previous company announced that it was mandatory for everyone to work in the comfort of their home. And true enough, being with my family is the most comfortable place there is. From then until now I still enjoyed working from home. Aside from the fact that my expenses were lessened, I can do breastfeeding and bookkeeping at the same time – the BEST! 🙂

I can sing fairly well, not to brag, but I once won as champion when my uncle was one of the judges and my mother was the emcee – it all happened in our purok (district). I also write songs and poems (but not essays hehe) whenever I am in the mood. But now I think I am better off managing and monitoring our income and expenses – welcoming adulthood real quick with arms wide open (lol)!

As for my online career, I first entered the online-job-world last 2016. Since then, I was amazed at how everything was done online.

Last October 2021 marked my 5th year in my previous company as a virtual accountant/bookkeeper. It was sad that I had to leave a lovely company because I had to secure my child.

We were living in the city before, but since the COVID-19 cases were on the rise, my partner and I decided to go back to the province knowing that the internet connection is unstable but the COVID cases are very few. I know it’s risky with regards to my job due to poor connections in our place but I have a child to protect. In line with that, I had to resign since I cannot deliver my job properly.

But recently we were able to find a good place in the municipality, where the internet is stable and the place is conducive to raising a child. So we gave it a go and rented a house.

Right now, I wish to join your VA team where I can work from home, worry-free! Again, I love to jump right onto my computer with my favorite jammies on and be able to apply my learnings, especially with regard to the different accounting platforms, towards the benefit of the VAT company and to the client as well. And I still have so much to learn, I am willing to undergo training if necessary. I believe in treating the client as my own because when they are happy and satisfied with the service we provide, everything else will fall into place.

I thank GOD for the plans He has in store for me. Also, to my friend and colleague from a previous company for introducing the Virtual Assistant Team to me. I may or may not be hired but at least I have proved to myself that I can write an essay (lol). Kidding aside, I thank you VAT people! Thank you so much for helping every woman out there to still pursue the jobs they love to do while being a mama and a wifey all at the same time. That’s all. Again, thank you, LORD!
