Jhon Kim Caringal – Electrical Engineer

Good day! I am Kim Caringal.

I am a fresh graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Electrical engineering wasn’t my first option. I remember enrolling into Civil Engineering during my first years of college because I simply did not know what I wanted as my career. The sole reason of me being good at maths became the stepping stone for me choosing engineering as my path. And now, I am happy with the path that I chose, which is to become an Electrical Engineer.

I stood as the Vice President for the entire Engineering Student Body during my 5th year back in college. Being the Vice President, I learned to develop my leadership skills and communication skills. I also learned to be organised due to the amount of documentation that was necessary for arranging events at school.

Back in my elementary years, I grew up in Brunei which led to me studying at an international school there for 6 years. Because of this experience, I can say that I easily adapt to different cultures. I interacted with people from different countries, using ‘English’ as the medium of communication.

Communication has always been my forte and I was always told that I am a good speaker and listener.

Growing up, I was raised with a philosophy of putting needs over wants first. Through this, I have been able to keep my priorities straight, which means I will always get the job done. One more important value I keep in mind is to ‘appreciate’. I believe that appreciating others and being content with what you have will always make you a good hearted and happy person.

Now, I am at the point in my life where I will be entering the ‘real world’. And before I do, I want to experience as much as I can for me to be ready. I will use these upcoming experiences and opportunities as tools as I embark on my journey to ‘reality’.
