John Aldrian Valencia – Virtual Office Manager, Executive Assistant
Hi, I am John Aldrian E. Valencia, but everyone calls me John. I have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration major in Management. I started working at home during the pandemic, and we were forced to stay at home for our own safety.
Prior to being a Virtual Assistant, I was working as a Customer Service Representative for Concentrix under the account of PayPal. I was an Account Specialist where I handled customer concerns regarding their accounts, and was promoted to a Transaction Specialist where I handled customers’ concerns regarding transactions and concerns on their accounts. When the pandemic hit, I made the decision to go back to my province. I applied online and was hired as a virtual executive assistant at a local company in where we mostly organised online events and helped them with their transition to the online world.
I was then hired as a Virtual Office Manager by SonoMarin Solar Inc., a solar company based in Northern San Francisco, California. I managed the company calendar, ensuring all schedules and appointments were organised and updated. Provide assistance to customers by addressing their inquiries promptly and professionally. Oversee the entire interconnection process for customers, managing it from start to finish. Take charge of pre-operational tasks for projects and handle after-sales responsibilities to ensure customer satisfaction. Additionally, prepare and deliver a comprehensive monthly report directly to the CEO of the company.
Being a virtual assistant has benefited me in numerous ways. It has allowed me to spend more quality time with my family and finally dedicate time to some of my hobbies, such as reading books and watching my favourite series and movies. Additionally, this role has taught me valuable lessons that have significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth. For instance, I have learned the importance of time management by balancing multiple clients and tasks, which has helped me prioritise effectively. Working remotely has also improved my communication skills, both written and verbal, ensuring clarity in all interactions. I have developed adaptability, as every client’s unique needs require flexibility and creative problem-solving.
Moreover, I have become more technically proficient, handling various tools and platforms with ease. Self-discipline has been another essential skill, as remote work demands focus and accountability to meet deadlines without supervision. Engaging with clients has also enhanced my customer service abilities, fostering empathy, patience, and conflict resolution. Lastly, this role has encouraged continuous learning, as staying updated with trends and tools is crucial for success in the ever-evolving virtual workspace.
