Julius Autencia – Customer Service Representative

I am a product of a poor family, the youngest among eight siblings. My late father was a carpenter and my mother was a housewife. I grew up in poverty, seeing my parents accepting any kind of work, just to earn money we could use from day-to-day living. They set aside the idea of fairness, whether what they earn is fair to the job they worked for, what is always important for them is that they feed us through noble work.

Despite the situation we had, they were still able to send us to school. When I was in grade school, I tended to sell candies or food products during break time, so I would be able to save money for my projects and pocket money. During the weekend, my elder brother and I did extra work as a poultry cleaner. This was my routine until I graduated from high school. I wanted to proceed in college at that time, as I dream of changing our status in life, however, due to financial hardship and lack of scholarships offered in our rural area, I was forced to stop. I tried to find work while I was waiting for my next college enrollment.

Fortunately, I found some jobs that do not require an age limit, like construction work, farm work, babysitting, and many more. A lot of struggles we encountered before I finished my degree in college, year 2015. The uniform that I used while studying was just the old clothes from our neighbour who graduated from the same school.

It frequently happened as well that my mother needed to borrow money from her friends, for my fare going to school. Mostly I have to take special exams, as I can’t pay my tuition on time. Can’t imagine surviving that kind of life before. I thought that I could give my parents the life that they deserved once I got my diploma however, my father passed away when I was in 3rd year of college. That was one of the hardest challenges we had to face for all the struggles we encountered.

I didn’t want to but I had no choice but to move forward for my mother. I recently lived in Metro Manila Philippines living an apartment together with my mother and my elder brother. As a breadwinner of the family, I sustain our daily needs by working in the BPO industry for almost 8 years now. I am pursuing to learn more about the field of virtual assistant not just to mould and discover my other strengths, but also to provide high-quality service to your company.
