Junalyn Corminal – Executive Virtual Assistant

Hi, I am Junalyn Corminal. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology for Teachers and earned a Master’s in Science Education. I worked as a teacher for six years. During the pandemic, when schools switched to online classes, I enhanced my digital skills to ensure we continued providing quality education to our students.

When we were asked to return to in-person teaching, I realised the advantages of working from home. My home is far from the school I worked, and the daily commute was challenging. I truly appreciated how working remotely meant no longer waking up early to beat the rush, sitting through traffic jams, or dealing with heavy rains during the school year. These experiences solidified my desire to transition to a work-from-home career.

Interestingly, my twin sister started working as a virtual assistant before I did. After finishing my last school year as a teacher and starting a family of my own, I decided to embark on a new career as an executive virtual assistant. This transition was a big step, but one I was excited to take.

The skills I gained during my teaching years have been incredibly helpful in my new role. As a teacher, I learned how to manage time effectively, stay organised, and handle a variety of tasks efficiently, all of which are essential in the virtual assistant field. In my current role, I primarily assist CEOs in the coaching business. My tasks often align with my teaching experience, as I create presentations, develop learning modules, and prepare materials, much like I did in my previous profession.

In addition to those tasks, I also manage social media accounts, handle inbox and calendar management, conduct research, and assist with lead generation. These responsibilities allow me to continue using my creativity and organisational skills to support my clients.

Working from home has truly been a blessing for me. It allows me to balance my career while being present for my family. My daughter recently turned one in September, and I’m grateful to witness all her milestones as she grows. This flexibility and quality time with my family have made my transition to remote work one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
