Justine Macarat – Web Developer and Graphic Designer

justine-shane-macarat-formalHi, I’m Justine!

Born on January 16, 1998 to two loving parents. I’m the second child of the three siblings. ‘Tres Marias’, they call us since we are all girls.

While my siblings grew up watching Barbie and playing dress up games, I spent most of my time watching Power Rangers and playing video games such as ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Need for Speed’. While my sisters wanted dolls, I wanted toy race cars. I was always considered “the weird one”, “the odd one out” or “the nerdy one”, while my sisters were always part of the popular clubs and cliques of their time.

I spent my time reading novels, composing songs and playing the guitar while my sisters were out playing with their friends. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t have an amazing childhood because I loved every part of mine. I had amazing nerdy friends to play Scrabble with, share favourite books and have guitar jamming sessions.

I guess it’s fitting that I took what most consider a nerdy course and a nerdy job. I am a graduate of Information justine-shane-macarat-swimmingTechnology major in Database Systems and I am currently working as a Web Developer in a local company in Iligan, Philippines. I also completed my On-the-Job training there and thankfully, they absorbed me immediately even before I graduated.

My job requires me mostly to making sure the website runs fast, smooth and the code is cleanly programmed. I also create servers and database for functionality, back up files from the website to local directories and I spend my time meeting both technical and consumer needs of the clients. This work requires me always to be updated with the current technological trends and my knowledge of a wide variety of computer programs allows me to easily take on nearly any task I am assigned. I’m always keen to learn new things and welcome challenges.

My other experiences include being part of a local organisation where I worked as a Graphic Designer so I had experience editing photos and videos. I also experienced being a Data Entry Clerk where I provided a number of services such as document preparation, maintaining files and record keeping, research and retrieving requested data to be entered into designated databases and forms, and updating and correcting source documents for accuracy.

I endeavour to learn and expand my experience as a VA and I hope you’ll consider me for a position within your team.
