Karen Tilos – Sales Coordinator
Hello, my name is Karen and thank you for learning more about me.
I am a very well rounded person and have always believed that managing ones time effectively is key in keeping a harmonious balance between personal life and work. Duringn spare time, I like going to a quiet café for a nice cup of tea, alone or with my boyfriend. We also like to go to our favourite restaurant or go for a walk, just to have a break from our daily routine.
I want to put it out there that although this is my first time delving into the VA world, I am thrilled to start my new journey, ready to help, and keen to learn more. I have over 4 years’ experience in customer service and over 8 years in sales, travel and hospitality, and administrative work. I would be delighted to lend my help in growing your business.
I was born in a humble city called Davao where I also finished my University degree and spent most of my childhood. Growing up, I have always been independent and goal oriented. In 2004, I was given the opportunity to work as a Customer Service Representative in one of Expedia.com contact centers in the Philippines. Along with the opportunity came the independence I needed. I had to relocate to another city which meant I had to learn to manage myself, my finances and my time on my own while keeping a full time job.
Being in Customer Service has allowed me to develop my communications skills, manage difficult situations, learn to think outside the box, to be creative, multi-task, practice maximum tolerance, and so much more. It was a fun time for me and I was like a sponge absorbing everything. Working for Expedia.com has also sparked my curiosity to see other countries, learn different cultures and explore new possibilities.
My interest to see other countries was only realised in 2011, when I got accepted to a new job in Maldives. I worked as a Travel Consultant and one of my responsibilities was to help clients book the perfect holiday, taking in consideration their interests, what they needed, and their capabilities. I have worked for several other travel agencies in Maldives and Sri Lanka before I finally decided to try hospitality.
I was given the chance to work in one of the most established brands in Maldives as a Sales Coordinator. Some of my tasks involved hosting familiarisation and educational trips to the resort and its sister properties, administration of tour operator database, overseeing and coordinating the production of resort collaterals, managing the resort online image library, maintaining our sales activity report, and other administrative work. In my mind this was everything I could ever ask for – a job that challenges me and allowed me to grow further.
But what I have learned in life is that the only constant is change. We need to keep going and continue to learn.
I met my soulmate and we have decided to start our journey together in India. We are still learning the ropes of this beautiful country. The culture is rich, people so friendly, and life is simple.
That is my story so far. Thank you for reading all the way to the end. 🙂
