Kerrie Yannee Agripo – ESL Tutor
Hi, I am Kerrie Yannee Agripo, you can call me Yannee. I am a fresh graduate with a degree in Biology from Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan. I never expected to juggle both academics and online work, especially during my senior year in college. However, life’s challenges made me determined and focused, leading me to a fulfilling and enjoyable job as a Home-based English Tutor for two years now.
During my student years, I was exposed to different organizations and programs, dealing with student leaders, professors, administrative officers, paperwork, projects, events, and secretarial duties. It wasn’t easy or ideal to study, be active in student-led programs, and work remotely, but I was blessed enough to manage them all and still graduate on time and with flying colors.
There were days when I doubted myself, “Is this really for me?” “Can I handle all these?”. Thankfully, I was able to adapt to the workload and the environment. My company was also accommodating, and I was continually guided by their training and support. Moreover, my experience in personal relations, website management, communication jobs, scheduling, and planning helped me attain the goal of the company. I find teaching my students the English language fulfilling, making sure that I get to set a proactive and healthy environment in my classes. With these, I strive to become more goal-oriented, resourceful, and diligent in my work. One challenge would be maintaining a professional relationship with the student while understanding their culture and different paces of learning. But in the end, I remained focused on my goals, leading me to give my best and quality work.
And now, I am ready to take on more roles beyond being an ESL tutor. I know that working at home requires skills that will match you to your best client. I don’t have any experience yet of being one, but I know that I am capable enough to learn and grow throughout the journey. As a fresh graduate, it would be very difficult to start standing on your own, but by perseverance and commitment, I will get there.
