Kristine Lozada – Customer Service Representative, Graphic Design

Kristine-Lozada-vaHello. My name is Kristine Caroll P. Lozada and this is my story.

I’ve always been passionate about designing ever since I was in high school. I’ve experimented with photo editing, video editing, and web designing on every platform that I can use. When I started college, I first took a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Even though I had fun coding, my heart was still looking for designing and editing. That’s why I decided to shift my program into a Bachelor of Multimedia Arts. I also considered choosing Bachelor of Multimedia Arts as my first step in choosing myself. Before Multimedia Arts, I base my decisions on what will my family say. Though, my family matters, I felt like there was something missing even though I know I make them happy. But when I chose Multimedia Arts, that was the first time that I felt genuine happiness in what I do. Though my family wasn’t supportive of the route that I chose at first, they saw I was happy in what I’m doing so they come to support me in what I do.

My first job experience was when I became a full-time service crew at McDonald’s. I was 17 years old at that time and studying at the same time. After 3 months, I had to stop due to personal and academic reasons. My second full-time job was when I became a customer service representative at a BPO company for a year. I was also a working student at that time. I’ve learned how to handle foreign customers and I was able to enhance my English-speaking skills. I’ve also learned that I am actually quite reliable as my co-workers have always told me that even though I don’t talk that much (except with customers, of course), I was able to achieve being a top agent for months.

Kristine-Lozada-vaAfter a year as a customer service representative, I decided to resign so I can pursue what I’m passionate about and what my degree is all about: Graphic Design. I’m currently doing my virtual internship at a photo studio called Dark and Grey Studio. I’ve done photography and designed business promotions in this internship. This internship is also the closest experience that I have as a Virtual Assistant as we have to do our work clock-in and outs through an app called “Jibble”. I’ve also experienced talking to clients and to our boss virtually through this internship due to our current situation right now. I also have an affiliation to our university’s official student publication as the Chief Layout Artist. I’ve designed publication materials, posters, and broadsheets while being affiliated to them.

One experience that I will never forget as the Chief Layout Artist for our student publication is I have to design our official website. I was tasked to do it using WordPress by our university’s IT department. At first, I was excited because web designing is one of my fortes. But it turned out to be pretty challenging as it was my first time using WordPress. But in the end, it turned out good and I’ve learned a lot when it comes to using WordPress. It was also really fun as I was able to use my knowledge when it comes to CSS and HTML.

As an artist, I pride myself on being creative. I am a passionate person who loves designing. I am confident with my skills but I know I still have plenty of things to learn which I am very willing to do. With that, I am a fast learner who’s willing to learn anything as long as it will help me as a Graphic Designer and employee.
