Liis Kupits – Executive and Administrative Assistant

Liis Kupits VAHi – I’m Liis 🙂

I am an accomplished executive/personal assistant with more than 10 years of experience having supported entrepreneurs in many countries. I am the gal who simplifies your life; your gate-keeper, the voice, the shadow, the consciousness on your right shoulder helping you run your life and business smoother.

I had a simple yet happy childhood growing up in Estonia. When I was a little girl, I wanted to become a dancer or a police officer. But neither of those two became a reality. Instead, after finishing college, I decided to take time off and spend one year in the US as an au-pair. In 2000, I packed my little red suitcase, with fifty dollars in my pocket, and moved to New York. I didn’t speak any English. It was a fearless decision as it was my first time being so far away from my family and I quickly had to grow up to make it on my own. But Estonians are calm, collected, and stubborn by nature, so I knew I could make it.

After my au-pair year was over, I decided to stay in New York and enrolled in college where I obtained my Bachelor and Master’s degree. I graduated college with honours, but to tell you the truth, nothing teaches you the skills to adapt to new life and situations better than life itself!

Liis Kupits VADuring the nine years of living in New York, I had the opportunity to work in different industries, companies ranging from 5 – 2000 people, experience the corporate life working 80+ hours. It often felt like a scene out of a movie called “Devil wears Prada” – you swallow your pride as failure was not an option.

The initially planned one year quickly became nearly ten years, so in 2010, I decided that it was time to move closer to home. I sold everything I owned and moved to London.
It was a bit of dejavu and reminded me of my first years in New York because once again, I had to adapt to a new culture and ‘learn’ English again – British English that is. 🙂 I quickly grew to love the new accents around me, the traffic on the wrong side of the road, and the amazing British springs.

After three years in London, I had the opportunity to live in New Zealand for two months, 6 months in Hong Kong, and one year in Singapore. I have always been told that I don’t do things the normal way or what society expects of us. I know it takes courage to move to another country and many people dream of doing it but never have the guts to step out of their comfort zone. So… to keep things interesting and try something quite the opposite to big city life, I decided to spend some time on an off-grid olive farm in Spain, hosting volunteers from all over the world. I learned a lot about solar power and how to build water catchment systems. It was a magical place where the sound of tranquility was music to my ears. Also, it is where I decided to set up my own VA business.

Over the past two years, I have had the opportunity to work with different clients from all over the world such as London, Italy, Singapore and so on. Looking back at my “Devil wears Prada” days, it was probably the best thing that could have happened to me as it taught me to be involved with a variety of industries, and handle people from all walks of life with different backgrounds and cultures.

However, life’s not just about work and travel, so here are few fun facts about me: I am a proud dog-mamma of a 3 year old rescue dog. I love a good trashy novel, a good glass of wine and yoga (not done together). I am a four time national champion in rhythmical gymnastics. I am one of those who has driven off from the petrol station with the fuel nozzle still attached to the car, and the one who is not afraid to purchase petrol for one dollar because one gallon is better than nothing!
