Lilibeth Abadiano – Administrative Assistant
I previously worked in a corporation for over a decade. And this year, March 2024, lasted my corpo job. It was a difficult decision I made since I have been in the company for many years, but my family, especially my aged mother, needs a companion and full attention, so I decided to leave my long-term company. I had no plans then to look for a new job; I just wanted to help my mother with her convenience store and later put up my own business. Months later, upon looking for new business ventures online, a video clip about freelancing and virtual assistants caught my attention, since it offers a work-from-home job. I studied and researched what it is all about. Then I was amased about the opportunity it could bring financially and professionally. Trying my luck, I continued to study and grab a paid, self-paced course and attended webinars and online trainings. I also joined different groups of aspiring virtual assistants.
It was overwhelming at first, but as time went by, I learned how to handle it. Until I tried to apply for job postings on different platforms. Unfortunately, I was not able to make it and received countless rejections since I had no prior experience as a VA, disregarding my extensive onsite experience. It was not as easy as I expected. Lose my self-confidence. I came to the point of giving up, thinking maybe this job was not meant for me. Yet, in God’s faith, I’m still here, looking to the brighter side, hoping that one day there will be an agency or client that will give me a chance to try me out and will trust and believe in my capabilities. I continued to enhance and improve my skills. I enrolled in a training with an in-depth internship as an executive assistant. Two months ago, a webinar popped out in one of the group chats I joined about How to Ace in an Online Interview by Mr. Alan Stewart. The topic is one that I’m eager to learn more about, so I decided to join. And it doesn’t disappoint; Mr. Alan explained it well, and I gained additional knowledge, valuable insights, and tips.
