Maria Asis – Customer Service Representative
First of all, my name is Maria Cristina Asis. You can call me Maria. I’m an Associate Graduate in Business Accounting Management, which is a vocational bookkeeping passer here in the Philippines. I started working at the age of 17.
My mum died when I was 14 years old and since then I became the breadwinner of the family. I used to work as part of the service crew in a fast-food chain. That’s when I realised how difficult it is to be an adult. I learned to clean tables, comfort rooms, glass doors, windows, kitchen, and all.
When I was given a chance to study in college, I chose a 2-year course only in order for me to start finding a job as soon as possible. Before I graduated, I was lucky enough to find a job that is related to what I learned in school. I become a Purchase Officer in Cosmetics Manufacturing. Sometimes when my immediate supervisor is not available, I am the one who is in charge of some administrative tasks, such as assigning tasks to my fellow employees, providing petty cash for the helpers, and answering phone calls, text messages, and emails about the company’s product.
After a year, I became curious about what a call center agent is. I decided to work as a call center agent in an international logistic company in the US. I also worked as a fraud and dispute specialist in a credit card company, sales agent/customer service in an airline account, a support ambassador of a travel and home accommodation, and a client service associate.
In the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, I realise that it really doesn’t matter what your job is, or if you’re happy with it. As long as you are able to support your family, pay your bills, and have enough time to rest, then you are doing well.
Now, I want to be a Virtual Assistant, not only for the reason that I want to work from home. I also want to improve skills and build my character.
I’m very excited about my very first job in this industry and looking forward to sharing my knowledge and skills to help you and your company.
