Marinelle Ocot – Accounting

marinelle-ocot-vaMy friends and family usually call me Mhaynel. I am a graduate of BS in Accountancy. Studying in a catholic school, I was always part of the weekly mass celebration in the university chapel since high school. This is where I developed my skills in reading and writing in English.

After college, I spent two years reviewing and taking the board examination, but did not gain a license. Nevertheless, I practiced my passion by working in different BPO companies as a Customer Service Specialist.

After working in the BPO Industry for about 5 years, I took the civil service examination and passed. It was during that time that I started looking for a day job to practice my profession. I worked with San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation but got pregnant, so I decided to go back to the province with my family.

After some time, I applied in a government agency and was hired as an Accounting Clerk. It was during this time that I was able to practice my profession and took side a hustle as a remote virtual assistant. I honed my skills for the in-demand profession online while also gaining experiences as a public servant.

marinelle-ocot-vaApplying both my expertise as a virtual assistant and accounting specialist, I decided to make freelancing my full-time business. I was able to work with various companies in different industries and nationalities which I really enjoyed more than anything. It was really fulfilling that I get to enjoy my passion working in a fast-paced and international setting environment while still able to practice my profession.
