Mark Emil Sarmiento – Software Engineer and Developer

Hi, I am Mark Emil Sarmiento, but you can call me Em. I’m a breadwinner for a family of 7. When I started out, I never imagined that I would be able to work from home. This opportunity gave me a lot of time for my family as well as for my self improvement. I learned a lot through online courses regarding mobile app development and web development. It helped me kickstart my career as a software developer and provide for my family. Of course, this would not be possible if I didn’t have a passion for software development. I started coding when I was a grade 5 student, from then on I studied a lot and pursued my dream to become a Software Engineer.

I have over 4 years of experience in software development, specializing in mobile app development. I started my career working as a Software Developer, where I honed my skills in web development and mobile development. I embraced the opportunity to work from home when the pandemic hit. I thought I wouldn’t have any opportunity to work but it turns out that software development is still viable even if you’re working from home. Since then, I have built a strong foundation in mobile app development, working with technologies like Flutter and React Native, and handling cross-platform development for both Android and iOS. I also have experience in developing end-to-end apps, following the agile methodologies, which can evolve the app depending on the needs of the client or the user. This made the development process creative while being practical and user-friendly.

Over the years, I’ve gained experience in developing user-friendly applications, optimising performance, and ensuring seamless functionality across different platforms. I’m a quick learner and capable of adapting to various challenges within a project. I also enjoy mentoring others and fostering a collaborative work environment, whether working independently or as a part of a team. Being able to help is one of the best accomplishments in being part of a team. Also, I’m comfortable working alone, and being able to adapt to any scenario.

Working from home has given me the freedom and flexibility to focus on both my family and my career. Adapting and learning through every challenge that comes. I look forward to further developing my skills and contributing meaningfully to any team I’m part of, while continuing to grow in the ever-changing field of software development.
