Mary Estillore – Customer Support Representative

mary-joy-estillore-va“Life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forwards” according to Soren Kierkegaard. Indeed, I’m a strong believer of a saying “Better days are coming so just move forward and enjoy life.”

I’m very pleased to introduce myself – I am Mary Joy Estillore. I prefer to be called as ‘Mary’ or Joya’. I am from Davao, Philippines. I’m a single parent of a 3-year-old kid named Marco Kaleb. His father and I separated 2 months before our wedding day and he was 9 months old at that time. Life was very tough at the beginning but I just trusted the process and appreciated the positive side.

I studied Bachelor of Science in Economics and graduated last in 2015 but just like other typical life stories, that course is not my dream profession. I chose it because that’s what my parents could afford since medicine is very expensive. I never imagined myself working in a corporate office for 8 hours and doing the same thing, talking to the same people and I can’t do what I want. It feels like I am caged in my own workplace.

I started my career way back 2014 as a sales and customer service representative in BPO handling a catalogue and flowers account. I was working at the same time as studying. I stayed there until August 2016. Working in BPO really fits with my personality since I’m a very outgoing type of person. I love to meet different people plus the environment is very dynamic and fast paced.

mary-joy-estillore-vaBeing such an adventurous spirit I applied for another company to try the role of technical support, retention and billing representative and I stayed there for almost 4 years.

However, last December was my turning point since no one was available to attend my son, I decided to flip my world upside down and venture into this work from home type of job.

I was hired as a virtual assistant to do cold calling, appointment setting and to manage my client’s social media account sometimes. I tried handling different campaigns when I’m cold calling and appointment setting such as real estate, cash loans and digital marketing services.

Though I have minimal experience in Social Media Marketing I’m attending trainings to expand my knowledge and I’m applying it in my own clothing business.

At this point, I can say that I love what I’m doing and this is my dream profession.

Thank you for reading my story. I hope that we can lock our arms together in the future and let me share with your success!
