Mary Grace Banares – Customer Service Representative, Property Management Assistant
My name is Mary, and I’m the proud mother of a beautiful 5-year-old daughter. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Financial Management.
I began working in the BPO industry in 2010, during my second year of college. Balancing work and studies was challenging, but my family’s support inspired me to keep going so I could cover my tuition and contribute to family expenses. My first role was as a Technical Support Representative for CISCO, a particularly challenging account due to its technical nature, but the company’s supportive environment made it a fulfilling experience. I successfully completed my studies while continuing to work.
After graduation, I pursued a career in banking, but luck wasn’t on my side. I continued working as a Customer Service Representative in the BPO industry from 2010 to 2015, managing various accounts, including telecommunications and debit card services.
In 2016, I transitioned to a new role as an Executive Assistant for a top real estate professional. My responsibilities included accounting and managing short-term rental properties across the Philippines, listed on platforms like Airbnb, VRBO, and other booking sites. I frequently travelled to communicate with maintenance teams, building managers, and cleaners, ensuring our properties were well-maintained and up to the highest standards. The opportunity to travel while working helped me learn more about the real estate industry and sharpen my organisational skills.
When the pandemic hit, I shifted to remote work to ensure financial stability and spend more time with my daughter. I was fortunate to secure a position as a Virtual Assistant for Unofive, a Canadian fitness company. In this role, I engaged with customers through email, phone, and chat, while managing product listings, order fulfillment, inventory, and refunds using Shopify. I also gained basic knowledge of Canva to create marketing content for social media platforms.
I love to travel with my family, as it helps me relax and unwind. That’s also what I love about working from home—you can travel anywhere without needing to be in an office. As a busy mom, I always enjoy being hands-on with my daughter, making sure I’m there for her at every stage of her growth.
Working from home has been incredibly rewarding. It allows me to be present with my daughter and gives me the freedom to travel. I’ve been able to support my family in ways I couldn’t before, both financially and emotionally.
