Meriam Plaza – Accounting, Financial Analyst

Good Day and Welcome to my profile!

I am Meriam Plaza from the City of Golden Friendship, Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. I go by my nickname “Yamie.” I am 24 years of age and have 4 years work experience. I graduated with a degree in Bachelors of Science in Business Administration majoring in Financial Management. In school, we were taught to be financially literate and to open our mind in the wonders of trading. We even have a certificate with Bloomberg as Certified Financial Markets Professional. My favorite learning was “to not put all the eggs in one basket” or simply to take risks in different fields because if the plan doesn’t succeed at least you have another option or you do not lose a hundred percent.

I landed my first job in a universal bank here in the country. I initially worked as a client-facing employee – a Client Service Associate then was transferred to the back office where I was an Accounting Assistant for the rest of my employment stay. Being a former employee of a well-known bank, it is our duty to be at 101% good service to our clients and be the face of the company. With our company’s tagline “We Find Ways” we always go beyond what is expected and to always be on the right foot of clients. The tagline says it all, we always find ways to extend service to clients but it should be in line with the bank’s policy. Working in a pressured environment has taught me valuable lessons such as being calm in the face of irate clients and to be fully committed to the client you are currently facing. Mistakes in the banking industry are costly. It can range from a small centavo to a few thousands of pesos.

Left the banking industry after three and a half years. I am now working as a Sr. Accounting Processor at a government agency. My job is in the collection division. Tracking target collections vs actual collections and also facilitating the Billing and Collection System that the agency has. I do reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. The report contains OR postings, Statement of Balances, Aging Summary, Report on Rebates and the Statement of Balances for the said time frame.

I work as a Financial Analyst on top of my day job, I recently started this part time and it is not on a daily basis. I do financial forecasting and reporting, evaluation of financial performance thru financial analysis and also reports on financial market performance.

We always start somewhere. I acknowledge that I am still new to this online platform but it does not mean I am a newbie forever. I do hope this is not a hindrance to my employment. I will always be grateful for opportunities.
