Nard Nazer Dave Malijan – Industrial Engineer
Hello, I am Nard Nazer Dave Malijan. Aside from having a long name, I also have a long journey story. However, you can call me Nard. I am 25 yrs of age today, I graduated from the University of Batangas Lipa Campus under the program of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.
There are so many things that happened before I reached college.
And here is my story:
When I was 18 years old, I got an opportunity to have a scholarship.
But there’s a twist, I need to work on a manufacturing, 5 days a week (12 hours per day), and Saturday and Sunday will be the schooling.
That was the moment that my life was turned 360 degrees. Life is not easy, and that time I decided to stop my college.
It was a sacrifice to choose to stop for a year for me to earn enough money for my dreams.
There were times I am so close to giving up,
Thinking of the possible hardships ahead of me before I reach my goals.
Thoughts such as, “Maybe college is not for me,” always slid through my mind.
Judgments and criticisms of other people impacted me as well.
Driving me to the thought of giving up and just continuing my journey that time.
However, I am a man of aspirations, and I choose to not give up on my goal, to be an Engineer one day (Even if Engineering was not my first Choice) Hahaha.
I search again for another scholarship.
I did some extra work.
Until I successfully got my tuition fee to enrol in college.
I am actively participating in every organisation of my department.
In fact, I was being elected as the Junior Philippines Institute of Industrial Engineers (JPIIE) as a VP of Internal Acads.
Also being elected as Ambassador of JPIIE on the Calabarzon Region.
However, Industrial Engineering was not my first choice, I was a student of Information Technonology but my parents wanted me to become Engineer so that is why I took the Engineering Course.
As time goes by, I gradually learning on the Engineering works until I graduated on my degree, and got a first job on Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc.
Just to share also, I was an Intern or Trainee at Yamaha.
During my intern period, I was able to propose a project that might help the company to save about 144,000 PHP annually.
During that time, there were so many first times that I experienced on Yamaha.
I overcome all my fears and doubts about myself during that time.
Just to share, one of my weaknesses is “SPEAKING” in front of many people.
I always get stuttered when I speak, especially when reporting to the boss and top management.
However, I always practice speaking.
And I think I overcome this weakness of mine.
However, to continue my story.
Yamaha absorbed me and gave me an opportunity to work on their team.
As an Industrial Engineer, I am responsible for the New Model Development, wherein I am doing the whole project starting from scratch.
Making Design and Spec Sheets, negotiations with suppliers, making documents for standardization and Testing, and Trials to make the project successful.
Today, I decided to part ways with Yamaha and I want to discover something new.
We are now facing the digital industry, wherein we are doing the work online.
And now, I am ready to face a new challenge in my life.
That is my story.
I might have experienced hardships during my teenage life before I enter the college.
But here I am, writing this story, with a diploma of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering [Engineer] in my name.
Now, if you get to the point that you are comparing yourself to others and you think you are below them.
Remember your goals and faith that lingering in you.
And that Faith and Goals will tell you to choose not to give up.
