Nathaniel Lariza – General Virtual Assistant, Journalism
I’m Nathaniel Lariza, but my friends call me Nathan, so you can also call me that. I studied public administration at the Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology, but honestly, my heart has always been in writing and teaching. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to freelance as a resource speaker, judge, coach, and consultant for campus journalism in my hometown and nearby cities, and I absolutely love it!
When the pandemic hit, I took on a copywriting gig for an Australian company. I was the go-to person for leftover tasks and random outsourcing jobs, which helped keep me and my family afloat during tough times. It wasn’t the most conventional work, but it gave me a tonne of experience in remote work and flexibility.
Once things settled down, I decided to try my hand at a more “formal” job and joined T-Mobile as a customer service representative. I helped customers with their accounts, found them the best deals, responded to emails, and even upsold a few things on the side. It was a great learning experience, but I soon realised I missed the freedom of freelancing and the ability to balance work with life.
So, I went back to being a virtual assistant, which led me to a role as a lead generation specialist. There, I learned the ins and outs of gathering leads and keeping potential customers interested. After that, I landed an executive assistant role for a coach, where I managed my client’s schedule and kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
One of my favourite gigs was working as a social media manager for a wedding planner. I had a blast creating content and was able to boost engagement significantly! I used my graphic design and content creation skills to make the social media pages pop and really connect with their audience.
Along the way, I also trained as a branding specialist, helping people kick off their new businesses or give their existing brands a makeover. It’s been super rewarding to see them thrive with fresh, creative strategies.
Now, I want to continue to grow as I help clients along the way. I am so far from being perfect, but I keep on seeing every day as a new chance to learn and be more.
