Nevada Rudman – Virtual Assistant
I am twenty-five years old and was born in Cape Town, South Africa. I have lived in South Africa for eighteen years until I was given the opportunity to move to Auckland, New Zealand in 2018 and I lived there for six years. During my first year of living in Auckland, I met my fiancé, and we started dating. After dating my fiancé for three years, we got engaged and I fell pregnant with our daughter, and she is turning two at the end of January. We made the decision to move to the Gold Coast in Australia and have been living here since August 2024 and absolutely love it here!
I have been working in Administration since I graduated from school, and I quickly became extremely passionate about administration work and about being organised. Being organised is something that is part of my personality so organisation comes quite easily to me.
With Covid that hit, a lot of jobs got restructured and started allowing administration staff to be able to operate from home and as the restrictions lifted, a lot of companies called us back into the office to resume our duties in the office and would no longer allow us to operate from home. Ever since then, I never understood why people couldn’t just do administration work from home, since you can easily set up to operate from home.
When my daughter was born, I put her in daycare when she was 6 months old and ever since she started daycare, she was constantly sick. I don’t mean just flu sick, she was constantly in and out of the hospital. She would get croup every two weeks and at least once a month she would get a horrible ear infection, and her eardrum would rupture. It got to the point where I had her home more than at daycare and I was hardly able to go in to work and they wouldn’t allow me to set up to work from home. Financially, it just was not making sense to stay at my job because I used up all my sick leave and had to use unpaid as well as still pay for daycare fees and it was just putting a big hole in my family’s pocket.
This is when I decided to become a Virtual Assistant so that I can efficiently work from home and have the flexibility to care for my daughter when she needs it.
