Pamela Quiben – Administrative Assistant
Hello there!
I’m Pamela Quiben, a 24-year-old dreamer from a humble background in the Philippines. Growing up in a poor family, I always knew that working hard was the key to creating a better future for myself. Now, as my 25th birthday approaches, I can’t help but feel a little weird—time has flown by so quickly. It feels surreal to look at how far I’ve come and reflect on everything I’ve achieved compared to where I started.
Before even graduating college, I decided to start applying for jobs. I wasn’t sure where it would lead, but I knew I had to try. To my surprise, I landed a job as a virtual admin assistant for a local business here in the Philippines. The business owner, who I personally knew, took a chance on me, despite it being my first job. Looking back, I’m so thankful for that trust they placed in me—it gave me the confidence to keep going.
After graduation, I continued working with them, but I also got another opportunity to work as a recruitment associate for a BPO company. The job was different, and it pushed me to grow in ways I hadn’t expected. Handling a lot of applicants every day was tough, especially because I used to be so shy and nervous about facing people. But with time, I found the courage to overcome that fear, and I learned a lot about communication and the recruitment process. It wasn’t always easy, but I stuck with it, and I gained so much from the experience.
After nearly two years, the daily commute to the office became exhausting. The traffic in the Philippines is no joke! So, I made the decision to shift back to remote work. It felt like the right move, and luckily, I got hired by a US client as a virtual admin assistant. That was a turning point for me—it felt like everything I had worked for was finally falling into place.
Looking back, I can’t believe how much I’ve accomplished. I never thought of myself as particularly extraordinary, but the opportunities that have come my way have shown me just how capable I really am. I’m still learning, still growing, and still chasing my dreams. My ultimate goal has always been to provide for my family, and I’m doing everything I can to make that happen. As I keep moving forward, I’m excited for the next chapter of my career—and life—and can’t wait to see where it takes me.
