Rachelle Basadre – Recruitment, Administrative and Customer Support

rachelle-basadre-vaHello, I am Rachelle Nazareno-Basadre, a wife, a mother of a 2-year-old daughter, and a singer.

I studied Business Administration Major in Marketing Management from 2010-2017. It took me 7 years to graduate from college due to financial limitations since Xavier University is one of the finest schools here and the tuition fees are no joke. My father was an early retiree and my mum is a homemaker. I never what it was like to experience hardships until after my father retired at the age of 50. I was a happy-go-lucky person before then. But when my father’s retirement funds ran out, we went bankrupt and that was like a slap in the face, and I realised that life is not as easy as it seems. I was 18 at that time.

My family crisis didn’t stop me from achieving my dream of graduating from college. What I did just to be able to graduate was to get a few units and work part-time. I became a student assistant in school and a half-scholar in the Glee Club. At the same time, every Wednesday and weekends, I worked as a singer in a band and there are times I get home at dawn, tired – but still happy to be able to do this on my own. These experiences have taught me to be humble, disciplined, focused, and work even harder to achieve my goals.

rachelle-basadre-vaAfter college, I was able to get my first job as an Executive Secretary at a Hotel. I handled my boss’s calendar, emails, booking tickets, taking down minutes of the meetings and even his coffee just to make his work go smoothly throughout the day. Sadly, I was only able to work for only eight months because I fell pregnant and I didn’t want to risk my pregnancy because of the pressure I got from work. Three months after giving birth, I was able to get back to work as a Human Resource Officer/Data Privacy Officer. I handled recruitment, training, audit preparations, other administrative tasks, and Data Privacy Policies that had to be implemented. After a year, I realised that working at a corporate job was not enough to raise a family because our goal in life is to have a house that we can call our own since we have been living with my in-laws.

That gave me an opportunity to work as a Customer Service Representative under T-Mobile and I was able to have a grasp on how to work on a graveyard shift and hone my skills in communicating with US customers. Then the pandemic hit and we transitioned to a work-from-home set-up. I started loving the idea of working from home and it came to me that this is actually what I have been always dreamed of.

Luckily, I was able to land a job as a Real Estate Appointment Setter. I also worked as a Client Services Manager in an Asset Recovery Firm that helps clients recover their funds in the US treasury. I was exposed to working with tools like Xencall, Podio, Go Autodial, Mojo, IQ Dial, Zoho, Calendly, Google Applications, and Canva. I also managed a Shopify account and did social media management. I took a Social Media Management course last year to refresh my marketing skills and I also went back to refresh my Photoshop skills because I know it will come in handy in the future.

I may not have a 10-year stint working as a Virtual Assistant but rest assured that I am constantly improving my skills because I want to be a person that is efficient for my clients and help them achieve their success.
