Rafael D. Yap – Graphic Design

Hello, I am Rafael Rodrigo Yap. My friends call me Raf or Ralph. I live in Quezon City, Philippines. I am a middle child and a single dad for a 7-year-old little girl. I studied multimedia arts in an IT college for two years.

When I was young, I used to always join art contests at our school and in the community. Most of them I was able to win. This is where my love for the arts started. I always draw and sketch anything that comes to mind. After finishing high school, I wasn’t able to continue my education right away because of the financial problems that my family had, but that didn’t stop me from learning. During those times, I started teaching myself how to use adobe photoshop and adobe illustrator. This is where my love of digital art started. I watched and watched countless tutorials about adobe photoshop, read blogs about graphic design, and such.

My first job was in 2014, for a printing shop in our town. There I continued learning about graphic design including making prints, posters, and logos for different companies. After that, I got a job as a product designer, where I learned how to use AutoCAD. I modeled and rendered different kinds of products for a cellphone accessory company. My latest job is for a tech company. I was a graphic artist, illustrator, animator, and video editor. Creating online learning modules for different private companies and even for government agencies. As a freelancer, I am also a graphic designer for a Pinoy-Australian sports community in Perth, WA. I design logos and posters for their Facebook page.

I am very proficient in most graphic design software. I can also do audio editing and production. I work fast and with extensive attention to detail so I can assure you that my work is as perfect as possible.

Back in high school, my friends and I started a rock band. We used to play in local bars for a year or two. This sparked my interest in music. I collect vinyl and CDs of my favorite artists. Right now, I still play music from time to time at home during my free time. I write songs and have successfully produced and released one last year with the help of my former bandmates.

Right now I still continue to study graphic design and everything multimedia. because learning never stops, right?
