Raynee Cabatingan – General Virtual Assistant
Hello, I am Raynee! But you can call me Rayn. I live in Cainta, Rizal, Philippines, and I’ve worked as a virtual assistant for over two years. In my last role, I assisted a client in the IT services sector, specialising in data analysis for sports companies. Across various departments, I managed various tasks including administrative support, data analysis, social media management, and email marketing. My responsibilities ranged from making presentations and coordinating with team members to analysing model results and creating engaging social media content.
It’s never been an easy journey for me. I come from a family where I was the youngest and only daughter, so helping my mother was always expected. I became a working student for about a year as an admin assistant in a family-owned company. After graduating, I started working as a transaction processing analyst at a BPO company. My main tasks involved reconciling customer balances and managing credit card balances. Despite enjoying my role, I felt a desire to broaden my horizons. Eventually, I got the chance to negotiate with government workers and handle official documents, an important milestone for me. Interestingly, my supervisor recognised my potential and appointed me as her assistant and I became the point of contact for the team, handled the monitoring of payment balances, organised meetings, and represented her in meetings. While I’m grateful for her support, I want to grow more personally in my career… Discovering online teaching, I found joy in guiding and nurturing the young minds of my students, as well as in the act of imparting knowledge. Witnessing their growth and improvement as they absorb the information I share is incredibly fulfilling — it’s a rewarding experience to contribute to their development and witness their progress as they improve their pronunciation or sentence construction.
Exploring more remote jobs, I learned how virtual assistants boost income. Thanks to a friend’s referral, I landed a job as a general VA where I handled my client’s social media accounts, created newsletters, and acted as chat support. Despite facing a setback when a client ended their operations, I persisted, balancing my teaching pursuits while actively pursuing new opportunities.
When the pandemic hit, I noticed that more people looked for more ways to work remotely.
I truly appreciate how I’d be able to provide for my family while staying at home, being able to take care of my dogs, and helping my mom with her small business. I kept looking for more clients and was lucky enough to land one where I handled emails and calendars, created responses and presentations, evaluated model results, and analysed data. Maintaining strong relationships with my clients, I remain grateful for their trust, constantly refining my skills to serve them better. During my free time, I enhance my remote work proficiency by watching tutorial videos on YouTube and joining different social media groups related to remote jobs.
Getting married last year has given me even more confidence in myself. Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue my career journey, with my experiences and eagerness to learn. My goal is to establish lasting connections with clients while striving for mutual success and growth.
