Reggie Orbita – Digital Marketing Specialist, Customer Support

Hi! My name is Reggie Orbita, and I am currently residing in Imus, Cavite, Philippines. I graduated with a degree in Martine Transportation from Our Lady of Fatima University – Valenzuela in 2018. But I started working at the age of 18 or 19 way back in 2010, when most of the people of my age back then were still finishing their studies. I was able to continue and finish my studies while working from 2014 to 2018. I am working at night and studying in the morning. It is difficult for sure, but I say it is fulfilling and something that I can be proud of myself.

It all started when I was introduced to BPO way back in 2012 as a Chat Support Customer Service for an International Telco account, and I never stopped working since then because I fell in love with the industry. It’s like working to help other people with their troubles or answering their queries becomes part of me.

My journey in becoming a virtual assistant is not as easy as before the pandemic, because I used to work at the office. Then this pandemic happened, and everything changed. What I liked about this kind of setup for work is that I don’t need to go outside my home, spend almost half of my day commuting just to go to the office and back home and spend money for my expenses being outside. I can travel to anywhere I want and am still working. I can be with my family whenever and wherever I want. I can cook my own food or cook for my family. I can focus more on myself, like going to the gym before or after work. This is what the pandemic taught me, that you can have everything in the world but not the precious moment with your loved ones.

Because of this, I started to value time. Not just my time but also the time of my clients. If I can give the same output working at home that an office person is doing, I don’t see the reason for going back to the office. We have to value this opportunity because not everyone can have the same opportunity.

I know I have so many things to learn and experience, but like I always remind myself, “I will do whatever it takes.”. Challenges and hardships are there not to give us just pain but also to give us lessons to learn.
