Rona Jane Maghirang – Registered Psychometrician, Human Resource Associate

Hi! I’m Rona Jane Maghirang, though most people call me Rona Mags because, let’s face it, there are a lot of “Ronas” in the world. I am the eldest of two siblings, with a five-year age gap between us. Being the firstborn has always meant more than just leading the way—it’s also meant carrying the responsibility of supporting my family. While not an obligation, I see this role as my way of giving back to my parents for all the sacrifices they’ve made for me.

I fulfilled one of my biggest dreams by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from my dream school, Notre Dame of Dadiangas University. My dedication and determination didn’t stop there; I pursued licensure and became a certified psychometrician and mental health professional. After graduating, I embraced life’s adventures by travelling to countries like Dubai and Canada. These experiences opened my eyes to how technology has revolutionised lives across the globe, particularly in how people work and connect.

Initially, I envisioned my career as an in-office professional. I dreamt of wearing an ID, engaging face-to-face with coworkers, and accomplishing tasks onsite. This dream came true when I worked as an HR assistant at a hospital, where I handled compensation, benefits, and performance appraisals. Though it was fulfilling, I realised how challenging and dynamic HR roles can be, sparking a curiosity to explore new horizons.

After months of research, I discovered the world of remote work. What started as scepticism quickly turned into admiration for the flexibility and convenience of this setup. I transitioned into remote roles, taking on responsibilities as a Client Account Manager and an HR Recruitment Officer. These roles not only honed my skills but also provided me with a renewed appreciation for the potential of virtual work environments.

Though my previous remote jobs were contractual, they were transformative. They taught me how to manage time effectively, communicate across digital platforms, and foster relationships with clients and colleagues without meeting face-to-face. These experiences have solidified my passion for remote work and motivated me to seek more opportunities in this field.

Today, I continue to strive for growth—personally and professionally. As someone who thrives on adaptability, curiosity, and commitment, I believe the best chapters of my story are yet to be written. Whether working remotely or in a hybrid setting, I am excited about what lies ahead and determined to make the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
