Patrick Gabriel Abas – Supervisor

So, my name is Patrick Gabriel F. Abas. You can call me Patrick or Pat. I’m the youngest in the family and I have 2 sisters. I always wish to have a younger brother, but it wasn’t meant to be.

I was not able to finish college because my father got sick and I needed to sacrifice and help my mother in taking care of him. I started applying to different BPO companies here in the Philippines so that I can help with our finances. I was rejected six times before I got hired.

I started my career as a Technical Support Representative way back in 2018 in one of the leading BPO companies in the country. I was one of the pioneer agents. All of my wave mates were tenured in the BPO industry. At first, it was very hard for me because I have no experience at all. I don’t know how to have a good conversation with the customer, how to communicate with them. I worked hard in the training. I tried to gain all the things that I can learn from the training to nesting phase just for me to get into the production.

I used to binge-watch Netflix in order for me to widen my vocabulary. I personally study the products and services that we are offering outside work because I know how to value the job that was given to me. After a year of being a Technical Support, I was promoted as a Supervisor for Client Operations which I was able to showcase my leadership. I was developing and coaching agents for almost 3 years. I also got an award way back in 2020 as Year-To-Date Top Supervisor for our account which is definitely the biggest award that was given to me.

I didn’t expect the awards and recognition that I was achieving when I was a supervisor because I was also struggling and juggling between taking care of my father in the morning and working at night. I’ve been in a situation where I didn’t know how to rest anymore. I feel exhausted sometimes, but one thing that I’ve learned is to not give up.

Never give up on your dreams and always look back to where you came from. Don’t forget the people who helped you from day one. Every day is a learning experience! You should be able to learn different things every day.
