Almera Gabutan – Tutor, ESL Teacher

almera-gabutan-casualGreetings!

Hi, I am Almera Gabutan, most of the time people call me Bhabam. This is the short story of my life.

Education

I studied in public school during my grade school where I experienced many wild and amazing things! I enjoyed my grade school years to the fullest, while still having academic excellence. It was also during those time that I treasured a lot of moments with my friends.

I transferred to a private school to finish High School. My parents never demanded that I excel always in class, but to God’s glory, I always made it to the honour’s list.

I am a graduate of Bachelor in Elementary Education major in Special Education because of my passion for teaching kids especially with special needs. My college days taught me not just to survive but also to thrive.

Career

I volunteered for teaching kids with special needs for one year and formally taught kids for two years. After teaching in a formal classroom set up, I decided to engage in home based tutorials and worked as an ESL teacher.

When I was teaching in a formal classroom set up, I was challenged to put all my four-year learnings into application, but guess what? I have enjoyed it a lot not just because I have excellent co-workers, but also because I love the kids so much.

My greatest career dream is to put up a center for kids where I could teach, inspire and instruct them how to dream big and live in the fear of the Lord. Believing that my career is not just a simple career but also my calling.

Personal life

I am the second born child among the four siblings. My siblings, even though we always fight like cats and dogs but at the end of the day, they are always my source of comfort and happiness. My mother worked as a domestic helper and my father stayed with us looking after our small “sari-sari” store.

I will never forget the line from my favorite SpEd instructor, “Learning is from womb to tomb!”. This line inspired me to always have fun while learning and exploring new things.

I have mentioned above that I wanted to work abroad, but I had a great life experience way back in 2014. I have encountered the Lord and have found my greater purpose why I was born. That changed my whole life including my mindset.

Now, I am living a life with purpose, satisfaction, passion, compassion, commitment, and direction. I believe we have different stories to tell to inspire others. Soar high and keep on inspiring!
