Brandon Gutierrez – Quality Assurance Analyst
I am Brandon Gutierrez, but you can call me Donnie.
Jack of all trades but a master of none. That’s what most people call me, at least from the people I know. But it’s easier said than done.
I was born and raised in the heart of Metro Manila, Philippines. My father died when I was 5 and so I grew up without a father figure. Being the eldest amongst 3, I stood up as a father at an early age. I learned that not only do I have to work hard but I also have to always make way for my siblings before me. When my siblings graduated from college, my independence started.
I am a product of Google and Youtube “academy” in the sense that I am self-taught and learned a lot from these platforms. I believe in education but my mantra lead me to learn things that are not in a textbook. I learned outside. I started to become street smart and master the skill of thinking fast and out of the box. Everything I see is an opportunity to grow.
I started working for myself and acquired minimum wage jobs that led me to be aware of how to make money and expose myself in the battlefield. I learned that there are ways to earn more and started to work smart. Since then, I always think of ways on how I can increase my profit and savings by learning to adapt to various situations. Then I started to become a call center agent.
I am not good in speaking the English language but again, I always think of ways on how to improve. I studied. I researched. I ask questions. More importantly, I listened. Over 5 years, I have gained confidence in conversing in English. I have undergone extensive trainings in the outsourcing industry that eventually helped me climb up the ladder.
In over a decade of working in the BPO industry, I gained enough exposure to Learning and Development, Organisational Development, Instructional System Design, Management, and other support functions. I like working with startup companies and helping them grow. I am keen to details while beating the deadlines. I work smart than work hard. I think outside the box and consider every experience, experience.
I shifted to being a home-based professional last year. I am loving the time with my family. I love the comfort of working from home. I have experienced working with an events company that invites executives in their respective fields to join webinars and regional events. I have learned various work from home tasks such as marketing, email and project management, calendar management, SEO, Lead Generation, and administrative tasks. Because of these tasks, it gave me a wide familiarity with different tools such as, GSuite, Canva, Zendesk, Ringcentral, Powtoon, Salesforce, Front, Adobe Franchise, and other free online applications that are essential for my role.
When I am not at work, I usually spend time doing DIY stuff, playing console games, and watching movies. My free time is important to me because it helps me maintain my sanity to live a normal life. There is no easy job that’s why I make sure to beat the deadlines and execute my function as an individual contributor effectively and have a balance.
I am looking forward to working for a company that I can grow with and share my skill set. I am hoping that this story can touch the minds of the readers and consider me to be part of any organisation that can best fit my knowledge and exposure. Thank you!
