Hannah Angela Antig – Executive Assistant

Hi, I’m Hannah. You can call me Hann or just simply Hannah. I have a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and graduated in 2022. I live on an island called Samal, in the province of Davao del Norte. My life here is simple yet peaceful, although it offers like isolation and limited opportunities; it didn’t stop me from pursuing my dreams. As an eldest, I always want the best for my family. A year after I graduated, I applied to some private institution, but I think it’s not yet the right time to pursue my profession. Way back before I helped my parents with our small business, it was our bread and butter; we sold Filipino desserts every morning. I enjoyed helping them while I was figuring out what life offered me. Suddenly I think of remote work, but due to financial challenges I can’t start working remotely; I don’t have a decent laptop or internet, but I look for ways because I really want it to happen.

Before I made my way here, three years ago I worked as a government intern in our local government unit. I was assigned to the finance department; most of my tasks were basic support in preparation for financial performance for budget allocation, creating materials for public meetings, and assisting with the public related to treasury operations. I work while I study; actually, two years later, I was a government intern again, and this time I was assigned to a different department, a health department. My responsibilities there as an intern are to give assistance with tasks like data collection for health surveys, organising health campaigns, and helping with administrative duties. A realisation came during that journey that I should dream deep, deeper than the ocean. It was a wonderful journey working in a government setting, so I had to change the route of my journey, but things didn’t go according to our plans. The working contract got ended, and I have to look for another job. This time, just this year, I decided to enrol in a VA course and understand how virtual assistants work. I told myself I should not complain and get lazy in learning these helpful things until I saw a Facebook post regarding a free webinar, which this team and I did not hesitate to join for additional knowledge as aspiring virtual assistants.

In the long run, it wasn’t an easy journey; it taught me a lot, and it took courage to start from scratch. Life humbles me. It is very important to show grit and gratitude for all the things we have received and are about to receive, whether big or small. Working remotely is not an easy type of work, but I have a dedicated heart to pursue this, and I know this will give more time to myself and my family, who believe in me even when I can no longer believe in myself. I am for growth, and I believe there’s always room for improvement. Hustle and take a leap of faith.
