Jay-Ar R. Madrigal – Web Designer and Web Developer
My name is Jay-Ar Madrigal – born on March 22, 1986 in Southern Leyte somewhere in Visayas region. We have 4 siblings in our family: 2 boys and 2 girls. I am the 2nd. We lived together in Talakag Bukidnon, my hometown.
I graduated elementary school at San Isidro Talakag Bukidnon batch of 2000.
Mostly I played guitar, basketball and sung during my elementary days. For the second level of my studies, I graduated from Saint Joseph High School batch 2003. I spent more time on my studies, but still had my hobbies such us playing guitar, basketball and still singing.
Upon the 3rd level of my studies, I graduated from ACSAT – Asian College of Science and Technology taking up the course BSIT or Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. But before I graduated my College Education, I work at Jollibee in Limketkai Mall in Cagayan de Oro. I worked for 6 months while I was studying in college. And finally I graduated in 2008. I was awarded as a Graphic Designer during the ceremony. I was so happy that I completed my education and graduated as an IT Professional.
I suffered illness three months after I graduated, being diagnosed with lymphoma illness. But after 1 year I recovered and worked in an IT related position in PPA or Philippine Ports Authority, as an encoder of the manifest of the vessel.
I worked there for about 6 years, but nothing new happened in my life. I studied how to develop websites in 6 months while still working at PPA and then time came and I was ready to work online I quit my job at the port authority.
That’s when the best thing happened in my life, I was able to work online as a Web Developer. I had a boss who is very good and helpful to me and to my family. I worked for him for almost 4 years. His business is an Amazon seller. I also worked as a product researcher but mostly my responsibility was to develop online stores in his company. I have worked as an online web developer for almost 6 years now.
During this time, I have had a successful life with my family. I got my dreams in life, like buying a new house, car and having a small business. My wife and I were together for almost 5 years and we were so happy. We have 4 children: 2 boys and 2 girls. Three of our kids are studying their elementary as grade 2, grade 1 and nursery. Our 4th kid is 1 year old and a premature baby. The bad experience that shook my life was when my wife passed away August 9th, 2018.
My life was turned upside down. How do you move on with 4 kids? I used to cry when I looked at my kids – they were too small and they always cried because they wanted their mummy to come back… and I didn’t know how to handle that. I just hugged them and cried with them. But there is always good in life when I know Jesus. He is the one who heals the pain in our hearts – we just have to have the wisdom to know that sad things happen in our lives. We need to accept that death is yet to come, and we should know that all of us will go that way eventually as death cannot be denied.
We left my house in the city and currently live in our hometown (temporarily) as I needed time to think of a better way to work online again and to save money for my children.
Maybe next year, if I have enough funds to go to the city, then I will go back with my kids. It’s hard to become a single dad, watching over them while trying to take care of what their needs are… but this is life! This is my destiny.
As of now I’m spending as much time with my kids as I can, and my parents – and of course finding a good, stable job so I can cater for their needs and be able to support their studies as well. Even if I can’t buy things for myself, as long as I can support my family.
I also worked for 6 months in an office as an IT Manager but I quit my job there because my kids were stressed looking for me. So I stopped and focused on finding a job again online. I was hired again but the work only went for 4 months. I know the trends for online work so I have been accepting that many projects are only temporary or that online work can end suddenly with no explanation.
I am very thankful I have knowledge to share with my clients and to help them achieve their goals in life by competently performing my tasks. I am a helpful workaholic, who you can trust. I have always been honest with all of my clients and I am dedicated to my work.
If I have good luck this year, I want to make sure that all the past and bad things that happened in my life will not come again. I don’t want to have illness especially for my kid’s sake, because I want to support them – I want to be a good father and role model for them. I will focus now on working online and being with my kids.
Thank you so much for reading my life story.
