Junko Asca Marquez – Recruitment Specialist

We are in the midst of a pandemic and we all know that it has affected everyone in different ways especially when it comes to employment.

Many employees are being mandated to return to their office workplaces to the surprise and dread of some and to the joy of others. In some cases, employees are even warned if they don’t return, they can leave the company and I was one of the few people.

When the pandemic hit, I began working from my home office and just recently started my career as a Virtual Assistant. I have offered a broad base of services like administrative support and even recruitment. I have also worked at home as a Technical Support. It is a career that I can say that has a lot to offer. There’s a lot of variety that can help keep the job interesting and that way I won’t suffer from burnout. This provides me the ability to learn more about the industry.

Furthermore, being a single parent, it enables me to stay home and earn my pay. It is the most fantastic career decision I have ever made in my life. If I have to look back and ask myself, “What was my life before entering this industry?”, I would say that it was exhausting. By just being stuck in the early morning rush hour and all the house chores you left for work, it is really hard to endure. Although I received recognition from my supervisors for the high standard of my work at previous jobs, there always came a point when I was no longer learning anything new. As I’m not the kind of person who’s driven by money alone, I found that I’m no longer motivated until I realised I needed a change of lifestyle to strike a better work-life balance.

Now, I’m able to meet and work with amazing people from all over the world. I can say that I am more confident because I’m no longer limited to job opportunities. For me, career and life satisfaction are reliant on a combination of factors. It is not just a decent pay and promotion, not just the fringe benefits and job security. Being a VA brings together all those factors I was missing. I just have to believe in myself, know my strengths, learn the basics, and with my own perspective, I was able to start my career as a Virtual Assistant in no time.

Of course, like all jobs, it’s hard work, especially at the beginning. I have a lot to learn, I need to be determined and not give up at the first hurdle, but the freedom that will come with being in charge of your own life is going to be incredible.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my story and now that you have known a little bit of myself I’m hoping that I will be part of this awesome team soon!
