Abegail Cruz – Administrative Assistant
To write my story is a great challenge since this is the first time I will do it. It took me a while to decide if I have to include my personal life and the struggles I’ve been through, but here it goes…
To start with, I am originally from Malolos, Bulacan Philippines but I’m currently here in Bahrain with my family. I am a mother of two kids, but my eldest son passed away in 2017 at the age of 12 because of a dreaded illness. That was the most difficult and saddest moment of my life, but I’m grateful that God has given me the strength to overcome it. As the saying goes, everything happens for a reason. Those pains made a big difference in my life now.
I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Computer Science and Information Systems at Centro Escolar University in Mendiola, Manila. After graduation, I intended to apply abroad to support my family and fortunately, I was able to work in Taiwan with the Epson Company. I worked there as a Line Supervisor for more than 2 years. I was in Electrical Testing Department wherein my main job was to supervise and assist my team with their work before passing it to the Quality Control Department, and to ensure that they meet their quota.
After getting married, my husband brought me to Kuwait. In December 2006, a friend of my husband had to take maternity leave and their company required a reliever for her post as an Administrative Assistant at The Sultan Center for 6 months. I got the job temporarily. I also got the chance to work at G4S Secure Solutions for 4 years in Guarding Operations Department as Coordinator and Data Entry Operator. I’ve enjoyed my job so much, especially the harmonious relationship I had with my colleagues and superiors. I take criticism in a positive way and I know when to use it to improve my life.
I believe everything can be learned. With the technology we have nowadays, almost everything is possible. The impossible only takes time. I can do something with certainty. I’m always looking to build the skills needed in the Virtual Assistant position. I’ve recently taken a short course in eCommerce VA and still learning other skills and tools by watching Youtube videos and reading articles.
I’m hoping that I will be given a chance to move forward after this. A chance that would lead to my aspiration of becoming a Virtual Assistant working in the comfort of my home. I am very excited and motivated to make this choice a success.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. 🙂
