Cherry Rose Enares – English Teacher and Marketing Manager

cherry-enares-vaHi, I’m Cherry.

I was born in an idyllic province in the South of Philippines. So I grew up naturally interested in the calmness of nature. Yet, upon moving to the big city of Davao at age 11, I surprisingly found myself even more captivated by the busyness and vibrance of the city!

Fast forward…

After university, my inclination for anything fast-paced took me to various roles in the Events and Sales and Marketing industries for about ten years. I started my career as Sales and Event Coordinator for the biggest agricultural expo in Mindanao.

After my two-year stint, I moved to Cebu and spent the next five years taking on a sales role in the online industry and international certification body, respectively. Though based in the Queen City of the South, my areas of responsibility were the cherry-enares-vagreater Visayas (with the exception of Cebu City itself) and the whole of Mindanao. Consequently, I often traveled for sales calls and other activities relative to the role. I’m proud to say that my efforts established the branding of these companies where it used to be unknown – next, of course, to exceeding the sales target set for me.

It was also in Cebu where I met my husband in early 2012. Call it crazy, but we married after only a year of dating and right away started our family. The constant sales travels, however, took a toll and I suffered subchoreonic hemorrhage during the first trimester of our pregnancy. Without any hint of doubt, I decided to quit the corporate world and focused on rearing my daughter to safety. She’s now a bubbly, strong-willed five year-old.

Three months post partum, I went back to work and this time landed a managerial post in one of the country’s leading mall chains. The department I was leading are mainly responsible for managing all the nitty-gritty details of mall events, for amplifying sales promotions, and for developing and implementing marketing campaigns and branding strategies. This three-year experience, by far, is the toughest, the most fast-paced, and yet the most enriching.

Why leave that challenging yet rewarding job? Simple – to primarily raise a wonderful family. While working for the corporate world has its perks, the beauty and the chaos that comes by being a work at home mum is even more rewarding. Whoever said that being the commander-in-chief at home is easy, anyway? 😉

I am a degree holder of Anthropology and am still happily married.
