Jacqueline Po – Paraplanner

Hi, my name is Jacqueline Po. My friends call me “Jac” – and I’d like to invite you to call me Jac as well.

Professional Profile of Jac PoNow we’ve got the introductions out of the way, here’s some info on me…

I am the first child of my parents, and have 5 siblings, plus 1 adopted sibling. Yes, I know! We are a big family! But all of us are loved, happy and blessed!

I have a Bachelor of Science Majoring in Accountancy from the Lyceum of the Philippines University. And I thoroughly enjoyed my studies as I love working with figures. After I graduated from college I took a CPA Review in preparation for the CPA Board Exam, but unfortunately life got in the way…

I became the family ‘bread winner’ after my dear father suffered a stroke in the same year I graduated from college. For this reason I was placed in the position of not being able to undertake the CPA Board Exam.

At first I was unsure of my ability to balance committing 100% to my work and still being able to fulfill my family’s needs, but necessity caused me to stretch and discover that I am stronger than I first thought.

I started my career in 2000 as a Bank Teller for 6 months. From there I progressed to tasks including:

  • Accounts Payable,
  • Accounts Receivables and Purchasing,
  • Order Management,
  • Inventory,
  • Asset and Auditing Management,
  • Forecasting and Budgeting,
  • Management Accounting,
  • Implementing Accounting process and procedure, and
  • Working as IT Accountant.

… Argh! I think I’m getting calluses on my fingertips this list is getting so long! LOL

To summarise, I have practical knowledge and extensive experience in accounting software, software implementation and auditing. My expertise includes Administration of Accounting Software, and I have worked with a variety of multinational companies in the Philippines.

I took on the role as a Virtual Assistant in 2013 when I was one of a large number of employees that were made redundant.

At the time I had no one to look after my children, which are aged 10 and 3 years old. I had no idea about what it would be like to be a Virtual Assistant but thought it might be the solution to my situation. I logged onto a Virtual Assistant website and looked for an opportunity. My prayers were answered and I was hired as a Paraplanner – Financial Modeler for Data Product for 5 years. During this time I completed online study and gained my Diploma of Financial Planning – KAPLAN Professional Education Certificate (RG146).

I believe that my experience and internship training, education, and a combination of accounting, financial and IT experience make me a very valuable asset for any business.

I have the key strengths that I believe one needs for success, including versatility and a desire for continued excellence to become a company asset. I have been told that I learn quickly and apply those learnings effectively.

I’m not sure if it is my love of figures or not, but I am detail oriented. And perhaps being a Mom has given me the ability to multi-task! 🙂

I’ve discovered an interest in helping others, and the customer service I’ve provided over the years in my jobs has helped to develop my communication, ability to cooperate with others, leadership skills and confidence.

I also must admit I do take pleasure in producing quality work. I believe if you are going to do work – do it to the best of your ability.

Jac Po Relaxed PhotoIf you asked me to describe myself in one sentence… I would ask: “Can I do it over three?” LOL

I would describe myself as someone who is god fearing, understanding, honest, caring, intelligent, hardworking, and ambitious. I have a great sense of humour (I’m sure you’ve noticed ;-). I am also an easy going person and I respect each person’s space and own unique values. I also choose to focus on the positives in life, rather than the ‘downs’.

Okay… I’ll admit that was more than three sentences!

If someone asked me what my ultimate purpose in life is, I would say: to support my children’s needs and raise them to be good people. They, and the people around them, deserve that.

Now, at the risk of sounding indecisive, I couldn’t decide which photo to add to this webpage. There’s my professional one – which makes me look super efficient (and I am!). Then there is my approachable photo… I like this one too because it really depicts me as ‘me’. So I’m adding both!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my story…

If you’re looking to add someone to your team who is motivated, a progressive thinker and will put 100% into the job – then I’m your VA!
