Business school is where I grew and sharpened my skills in Marketing and Management. I have a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship and a couple of Masters In Business Administration Units (haven’t finished my MBA — yet! Looking to complete it before 2021). Working under different scopes in management and business in general, I am able to identify opportunities and innovations which can be a good opportunity for business owners. I have worked in the Virtual Workforce way back in 2009, and been a Professional Virtual Marketing strategist this full time for over 4 years now. I have worked in general admin services, customer services, digital marketing, and email marketing, through to graphics, and web development to bookkeeping and accounting services. I am a pro-active person, I make sure to tackle tasks in a positive manner at all times, ensuring to get the job done.

karen-wong-portraitJust a little bit about me: I am a stay at home mum to 2 wonderful kids, aged 11 (boy) and 7 (girl) and happily married to my gorgeous hubby who works as a Warehouse Manager for a big retail shopping mall in the city. I have a love for journaling, planners and all things stationery! Yes! I’m still kicking it old school for planners, paper and pen! For me these are still the best when it comes to organising family plans, work plans, and hobby plans and anything under the sun planning that needs to be done.

I have been a stay at home working mum since early 2015 when I left my comfortable corporate IT job based in the city. I have handled being a projects coordinator, been a projects manager and eventually land the operations manager role for an IT company which exposed me to more skills honing tasks such as client associate roles, project management, etc. as well as quality assurance – process documentation and more.

In 2015, I kickstarted my full time VA gig when I realised there was something wrong with my life… I kept missing my children’s milestones, the relationship with my hubby went eeeew, and my life was just work, work, work. I resigned from my job and had a little time off to just work on my vision — being a stay at home mum while still earning some $$$ for my family.

Fast forward to 2019, I’m turning 32 this year. I am super happy my youngest started her big-school (meaning she’s in school the entire day), my eldest is also at school the entire day, hubby is also at work for atleast 9 hours a day. That just leaves me and my 3 dogs at home… allowing me to sip my still hot tea, and focusing on some work! I love working from home, working from a coffee shop or even working from a park outside, under a shade. 🙂

I’ve worked for several projects and in different roles: From General Virtual Assistance, to Bookkeeping, to scheduling flights and paying off credit cards, to doing payroll. I’ve done social media, email marketing, created some websites here and there, and enjoy speaking with clients via Zoom or Skype.

I still write for my blog from time to time as I’m also a local influencer working with several local brands and attending events from generous marketing mall managers when they have events. I have even hosted some of my own events!

My favorite quote of all time is from the movie ‘Forrest Gump’ saying: “Life is like a box of chocolates, you’ll never know what you will get”. This means a lot to me. We can always move, create, and think freely – whatever we choose, we can always work around it. If it’s in our favor, then good, if it’s not, then we’ll work something out, right?
