Katherine Bernardo Villacorza – Sales Supervisor
Good day to you.
I am Katherine Bernardo Villacorza, and here is my story.
Selling is my passion. When I was in Grade School, I used to sell boiled corn and pancakes to my classmates. During school vacation, I sold the same goodies in our community.
When I was in college, I sold beauty essentials and pillows so that I would have an allowance in school. During my 3rd year in college, I decided to have a part time job at a pawnshop. I did inventory, pawned the jewelries and did the book keeping as well.
In 2004, I graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Commerce Major in Marketing. I finished my studies with flying colours and I’m very proud of it.
I decided to apply for a job as a bookkeeper. Unfortunately, the recruiter told me to wait for months for the position. They offered me to work in the same company as a weigher. I put corned beef in the can before the machine seals it.
That time, I didn’t have any choice but to agree because all of my savings was used to pay for accommodation and expenses while I was looking for a job. I thought the job was easy but it wasn’t. We have to stand up for 10-12 hours. I told to myself that I will finish my work for 6 months because its contractual. Though its a tough job, I embraced it and survived the 6 months.
I tried my luck in other jobs in Metro Manila and was able to land a job at a pharmaceutical company, but since they are still new during that time, sometimes they would not give our pay and allowances.
In 2005, my father passed away. I had to quit my job because my mum asked me to just stay with her and my siblings. I went back to selling different stuff like cosmetics and pillows. But since my income is not enough for our family, I went back to Manila and worked for a pharmaceutical company as a Medical Sales Representative, and that was the start of my career.
I strived very hard just like what I’ve done in my past work experiences. I achieve sales target monthly, quarterly and annually. I do product detailing, one on one product presentations and stocks monitoring. After 2 years, they gave me a car incentive because of my hard work. And every year, I always get the travel incentive for two, that allowed me to travel with my mother yearly. We went to different Asian countries like Hongkong, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
Year 2016, they offered me the position as District Sales Manager. Here, I managed people from different places, trained them in key selling and helped them to improve their skills not only in selling but also in product knowledge and business ethics.
I am very happy and contented because I achieved different awards yearly. I became the top 1 Sales Achiever 3 times during my stay with them. In 2018, I decided to leave the company because I got pregnant with my second baby.
Now, I am again ready to face new opportunities and very excited to have a new job. I decided work from home because my children need my guidance.
Overall, I am dedicated, persistent, result oriented and a person who works with passion.
Thank you so much and I am looking forward that you like my story.
