Overview
Meralyn Alolino – Administrative Assistant
Hi, I’m Meralyn, my family and friends used to call me by my nickname ‘Rai’. I am aged 30, been married for a year, and still praying for a baby to come.
I have been in three different jobs since I graduated with my bachelor’s degree. First, I was connected with a private company serving as a customer sales representative for 6 months, then landed a job in a government office that is in line with my course as a Social Worker. I have been in the government service for a total of 9 years, serving two different agencies, until I decided to stop from my last employment of January 2021 after having gone through a miscarriage. I was with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office in Region 10 for 8 years and 7 months and 6 months with the Local Government Unit. Serving in the government office for quite a long time has encouraged me to get a master’s degree in Public Service believing it could land me a permanent and higher position, but with the sad reality of the recruitment practice in the Philippines wherein the person with a ‘backer’ gets the job rather than someone with good credentials, I lost interest.
My past work experiences have exposed and taught me a lot in my oral and written communication skills, my ability to deal with people from different walks of life, my computer skills in using MS Office Applications such as MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint presentations. Additionally, it also taught me administrative functions such as document filing, monitoring emails, sending out communication letters, and data entry management.
I am a person who is dedicated to working yet I allow myself to have some fun once in a while as life is too short to devote it all to work. In that perspective, I am looking forward to a new journey in the Virtual Assistant world where I could work and enjoy my life at the same time.
