Rolando Angelico Labayen – IT Service Desk Analyst

rolando-angelico-labayen-formalHi there, my name is Rolando Angelico E. Labayen. I’m, from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental Philippines. My nickname is Lico. Just in case you are wondering where I got my nickname, it’s on my second name AngeLico.

I graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing but my professional career is in the IT Field.

I took the board exam twice. When I failed on my second take, I realised that Nursing is not for me.

I worked for 8 months as a Technical Support Representative in one of the BPO companies here in Bacolod. After that, I tried to look for a job in Singapore, but I only stayed there for 2 months. It was not a successful journey. I was rejected by the Ministry of Manpower three times for my working visa. I decided to travel back home to the Philippines. That was the time that I was so devastated that I didn’t know what to do and what I wanted in my life. I had a lot of failures. I spent time to re-evaluate myself. I changed my perspective on life. I listed down and thought about what my goals were, and what I am capable of. And then I gathered all the negative results in my life, put them together, learned from it and worked for it.

rolando-angelico-labayen-outdoorAfter all my bad experiences, I took some IT trainings. I took up Computer Hardware Servicing II from TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority). I also took up the CCNA 200-120 (Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching) bootcamp in Cebu. But I’m not a certified engineer as I still haven’t took the certification exam. I am self-taught in Microsoft Certified Solution Associate – Windows Server 2008 and 2012.

Now let’s talk about my Professional experience. I started as a Computer Technician in my friend’s computer cafe. At the same time, I was also an IT Staff Member in Bacolod Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital. After that, I worked as an IT Administrator in Transcom Worldwide Inc. – Bacolod and an IT Service Desk Analyst I at Crawford & Company in Iloilo. To summarise, I have 6 years of solid work experience in the IT Field. I am still hungry to learn more things and upgrade my skills in IT.

PS: “Dreams doesn’t become reality through magic. It takes sweat, determination and hard work.”
